Officials from the Ministry of Commerce on Friday inspected gold shops in the Yaowarat area of Bangkok’s Samphanthawong district to make sure that sellers abide by the law and that no fake gold is sold amid soaring prices.

PHUKET: Four men and three women were arrested this weekend for allegedly selling 4 million baht worth of fake gold in several Phuket gold shops over the period of a month. Two suspects are still on the run.
